The second round of the Beau Sejour Barracudas Club Championships – The Evans Bond Series 2025 saw no less than 3 great records being broken. The first record dated back to 1997 and was broken by young Ari Homan in the 9 years 25m butterfly, setting a new time of 19.42. It was originally set by the inimitable Thomas Hollingsworth all those years ago and had stood at 19.56. Ari also placed first in the backstroke and breaststroke.

The second record to fall was in the senior 16 years and over age group - 50m butterfly and this was set by Island Games pick, Molly Staples who hit the pads in 29.05, stealing the record set last year, from IG teammate Oriana Wheeler, who had to be content with second place in another great time of 29.55. Both girls looking strong and confirming their readiness for Orkney. Oriana producing the fastest times overall in both the 100m breaststroke and 200m backstroke, recording 1.14.38 and 2.24.62 respectively.
Also, in the 16 years and over age group, Rex Flynn shone with a great record-breaking time of 26.71. Rex, who currently lives in France, has been training as a member of the Barracudas during his visit to Guernsey, as he trains for upcoming French National events. He stole the record from Conor Osborough who was unavailable to defend his record. Rex also recorded the fastest time of the day in the 200m backstroke in 2.11.73. Fastest overall in the breaststroke for the men was Spike Jinks in 1.19.94.
In the youngest age group (9 years) Ava-Lily Cooper looked strong as she placed first in the butterfly and breaststroke. The 200m backstroke was one by a very determined Grace Beale.
In the 10-year age group, there was a hat trick of golds for Albie Sarre, whilst Nigella- Rae Trescothic won the backstroke and butterfly events, with Amelia Sarre taking a well-deserved gold in her favoured event, the 100m breaststroke.
There was triple gold for Phoebe Sebire in the 11-year age group, with some superb times. 1.14.73 in the breaststroke, 37.89 butterfly and 2.58.60 in the backstroke. Elliot Davies also a triple gold medallist, continues to make big strides in his development to County standard.
The 12/13 age group saw the spoils shared for the girls with Erin McKenna, the victor in the backstroke, Lotte Bolton the butterfly and Charlotte Miller putting in super effort to take the breaststroke title in 1.32.37. For the boys it was Luke Adcock with podium topping wins in the breaststroke and backstroke, while Freddie Moherndl stole the fly title from Adcock in 37.44, with Adcock hitting the pads in 37.50.
Triple gold for Megan Carter emphasised her ongoing outstanding progress in the 14/15-year age group. Island Games debutant Zach Maiden taking the backstroke, just a whisker away from the record, posting 2.18.11 as well as winning the breaststroke, whilst IG team mate Cooper Robinson won the fly in a great time of 29.14.
