Press Report: Distance Hampshire 2026

The Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club was represented by a team of eight swimmers at the Hampshire County 2026 Long Distance weekend. For several of the younger swimmers, this event provided a valuable learning opportunity, particularly as it was their first time competing in long-distance races within a 50-metre pool.

The Mens 800m freestyle event featured a highly competitive race between Henry Bolton and Zach Maiden, with both swimmers remaining closely matched throughout. Ultimately, Zach edged out his teammate by just over a second to secure second place in the 15-year-old age group and Henry third. In the 1500m, both swimmers delivered outstanding performances; Henry achieved a commendable fourth-place finish overall, while Zach claimed the Hampshire County title, winning the 1500m by more than seven seconds.

Megan Carter also took on both the 800m and 1500m freestyle events and Lotte Bolton the 800m freestyle. Swimming in the 15-year old age group, Megan delivered consistent performances, placing 5th in both the 800m and 1500m freestyle. Lotte achieved a 10th-place finish in the 13-year old age group.

The Barracudas medal tally was further added to by 11 year old Albie Sarre who took home a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle.  Also swimming in the 400m freestyle was Caelan Osborough, Thea Maiden and Phoebe Sebire. Impressively, each swimmer achieved a new personal best in this event.  Caelan finished 11th in the 13-year age group, while in the 12-year age group, Thea secured 9th and Phoebe Sebire 7th. In addition to the 400m freestyle, Caelan also competed in the 400m individual medley, where he improved his personal best time and finished 10th overall.
